Preston offers a lot, from superb shopping to parks and museums.

Enjoy the gorgeous grounds of Davenham and Miller Park, which include a charming Japanese garden and a café to rest your legs. If you prefer something more inside, The Harris Museum, Art Gallery, and Library have a terrific combination of excellent art, historical displays, and great literature.

The railway runs for slightly over a mile down the Ribble River to Strand Road, using tracks put down for the docks.

You may take a trip on a vintage steam or diesel locomotive in the summer.

These are available not just on weekends but also for prolonged durations throughout the summer vacation. The tourist centre and museum at Preston Riverside are connected to the workshops, which house and maintain sixty locomotives.

Preston's Grade I-listed, Gothic Revival church was erected by Joseph Hansom in the mid-nineteenth century.

He also created the Hansom taxi, which transformed horse-drawn transportation in Victorian times. St Walburge's is famous for having the highest spire of any parish church in the nation, standing at 94 metres.

It is not just Preston's most prominent landmark but also one of the highest structures of any sort in the northwest of England.

This Georgian plaza, planned as a residential district for the city's upper crust at the start of the nineteenth century, is one of Preston's most beautiful spots.

Winckley Square is located in the centre of a conservation area and is surrounded by long terraces of Georgian townhouses, imposing on the north and west borders.

These overlook Weakley Square Gardens, with flowing lawns shaded by large ancient hardwood trees like birches, willows, and limes.

The local football club has a distinguished history. Preston North End was founded in 1880 and was one of the twelve founding members of the Football League, which began to play in 1888-89. Preston North End won the League and the F.A. Cup in 1888-89, which remains the club's best successful season.
